Free Webcast of FSMB Annual Meeting Available April 26

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 16, 2018) – The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) will offer a live webcast of the opening session of its Annual Meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina from 8:00 to 11:45 a.m. EDT on Thursday, April 26. Webcast registration is free.

The session will include a variety of presentations, including a panel discussion on the future of occupational licensing and professional regulation, featuring Joel Albizo, CAE, President of the Federation of Associations of Regulatory Boards; Tara Isa Koslov, JD, Acting Director of the Federal Trade Commission’s Office of Policy Planning; and Beth Redbird, PhD, Assistant Professor of Sociology at Northwestern University. The panel will be moderated by Sonja Gantt, Executive Director of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Foundation.

North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein will also make remarks during the meeting’s opening session.

Occupational Licensing and Professional Regulation: Where are We Headed?

Trends and attitudes toward occupational licensing and professional regulation have shifted in recent years, including new efforts to reduce or eliminate licensure and regulations for certain professions that have long been in place. During this session, three experts will take a close look at where we are heading and how state medical boards are likely to be impacted. The audience will be able to participate during a Q&A session.
